100 Questions for the Webmaster !!

1.) Please introduce yourself

My name is Danika, but sometimes I go by digir0t (or digi) and dzzzystupid online. I’m 20 as of writing this (06), and I love to read, write, and sit outside with my dogs.

2.) How long have you been making websites?

I’ve been making websites since Nov. 2025, so about 9 months.

3.) What got you into the hobby?

I found out about neocities through YouTube, watched a couple videos about how easy it was to get started with building websites, and made a Neocities profile.

4.) What kind of website are you most interested in?

Mainly personal websites. If not just made for fun, a personal art portfolio or writing archive, things like that.

5.) What’s your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?

I usually start in my journal by drawing what I want the basic layout to be, then I pick the color scheme and the background. After that I just kind of wing it.

7.) What's your favourite part about making websites?

I like making something visual from something text-based.

8.) And the thing you struggle with the most?

So far, JavaScript

9.) Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?

Different, I like starting new each time.

10.) How confident are you with CSS?

I'm decent, I guess

11.) Do you know how to correctly use

12.) What is your favourite HTML element?

Favorite? No clue..

13.) If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?

Draw the layout

14.) Do you know JavaScript?

Ehh

15.) How about PHP?

Haven't bothered so far.

16.) Does your website have a theme that you stick to?

I wouldn’t say one theme, but I try to make it all cohesive.

17.) Are you more focused on content or design?

I would say a healthy mix of both.

18.) Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?

No. Yes.

19.) What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?

I luv them

20.) Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?

21.) What are your opinion on buttons and banners?

I like them, they’re cute.

22.) What do you think of button walls in particular?

I’d rather someone have a designated space for them than have them all over and unorganized.

23.) If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?

Similar as in my style, but different as in improved.

24.) Are you envious of other people's websites?

So much, but I’ve been doing this less than a year, I’ve got improving to do.

25.) What text editor do you use?

The built-in Neocities one lol

26.) Why do you use that one?

Easy, free, and nothing to download

27.) Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?

Just hosted on Neocities, but this will change as my website grows.

28.) This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?

I don’t really care, I just found Neocities first and stay on there since I feel like more people will find it there.

29.) How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?

Off the top of my head.., no clue

30.) Do you keep local backups of your files?

I do copy and paste my code into Nekoweb, but I don’t save it beyond that (yikes, but I’m waiting until I get decent sized outside storage)

31.) Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?

Highly visual

32.) Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?

I just stick to colors I find pretty.

33.) Have you ever thought about quitting? Why

Nah. It's fun.

34.) Do you have many webmaster friends, or is it a solitary hobby?

I have some online friends I’ve met through twitter and such that code their own websites.

35.) Do people in your real life know about your website?

Yes, I shove it in everyone’s face lol

36.) Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?

I don’t do huge changes super often, but I’m always updating little fixes, updating my blog or adding images/pixels/favicons, etc.

37.) And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?

Overall, not a whole lot. I tend to work for hours and hours on pages when I first make them, until I’m really happy with them, then I don’t change much until I repeat the cycle.

38.) Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?

Me and my hobbies.

39.) Do you do web design professionally?

Not yet, but I would like to, and may have something lined up for an indeterminate date B)

40.) If not, would you like to? And if you're comfortable answering, what do you do for work?

I would love to! I don’t do anything substantial right now, but I’m trying to go back to school.

41.) Do you communicate with people by email very much?

A little bit. My email I use for my web stuff is digir0tz@gmail.com

42.) Some people reject social media and use websites as a replacement. Do you keep social media outside of your website?

Yeah, but I’m trying to move away from my smartphone in general. Really it’s just SUPER convenient and integrated into everyday life.

43.) How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?

Mostly just whatever my friends communicate with the most. Instagram, Twitter, Discord, Email, idrc

44.) Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?

YES all kinds. Mostly punk and punk subgenres/offshoots, like emo.

45.) Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?

Everything on one site, but if I want to focus more seriously on a specific project, I can see me making another.

46.) On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?

Many

A bit of both

48.) Have you ever made a good friend thanks to your website?

Not because of my site, maybe over my website, but meeting other places.

49.) Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?

Yeah, I think all the challenges that are there are fun to work around.

50.) What are practices that you think people should avoid?

I would say not cleaning up code, but I also really need to work on that.

51.) What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?

I think I could learn more before answering that lol

52.) Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?

Bit of both.

53.) Do you consider different browsers?

Not for anything that's just decorative.

54.) Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.

I don’t really have a preferred, I’m open to suggestions

55.) What OS are you on?

Windows

56.) Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?

It gets the job done.

57.) Are your websites mobile-friendly?

Fuck no.

58.) What are your thoughts on autoplay?

I don't care as long as it's not too annoying.

59.) What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?

I love them. As of writing this I’m in the Apple Lvrs Webring. (for the fruit, not the company, yuck)

60.) Do you have any web shrines? What do you like to see in that sort of page?

I used to, but they were made when I was just starting out, so I took them down. I just like to see people passionate about things.

61.) Are your websites "cliche", in your opinion?

Maybe a bit. I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

62.) What is your ideal website? Are you striving for that, or for something else?

Looks cool and the content matches.

63.) Are you an artist? Do you draw or design your own assets?

Not is the visual art sense, but I did draw my header logo thing in MS Paint.

I feel like my style of how I work and what I end up with are both constantly changing, so not really.

66.) What's your biggest advice for a new webmaster?

Read through your code and look at your page and quiz yourself to make sure you know what every piece is doing

67.) Do you keep all your styling in CSS? Or do you hard-code some?

Bit of both

68.) What do you think of frameset layouts?

I don't use it

69.) How about table-based layouts?

Better

70.) Do you subscribe to the ideas of "one-column", "two-column" and "three-column" layouts? Do you use any of these?

Man, just make something you like the look of.

Sometimes I make them for no reason.

76.) How did YOU learn how to make websites?

YouTube and going to GitHub and reading the code to pre-made layouts that I liked the look of.

79.) When you're sizing stuff, what do you use first? Do you use px, em, %, or something else?

Px or %, depending

For a job or if a friend had a project they wanted a site for, yeah.

82.) Do you surf the Web to find new personal websites very often?

Pretty much anytime I’m on Neocities

83.) Do you bookmark other people's websites? How would you feel knowing someone else bookmarked yours?

Sometimes. Mainly for resources, but also some just because they look cool. I think I’d feel a bit more satisfied with that page.

84.) What do you want people to be most impressed with when they see your website?

The layout of it, that it’s all cohesive.., I guess that I hope not only do they like the content, but that it’s also good from a design standpoint.

85.)Are you interested in technology outside of websites? Do you collect?

I have some old cassette tape players, two record players (one of them also plays tapes, too, as well as CDs, & bluetooth), a Emerson PD5098 AM/FM CD player that’s super cool looking, some old dvd player I need to fix or scrap for parts, a VHS/DVD player I’m scared to try since my last one ate one of my favorite tapes, and probably a lot more that I’m forgetting…

86.) How often and for how long are you online?

Usually everyday, sometimes for less than an hour or so, sometimes for hours on end.

87.) When it comes to your website, who is your target audience?

Other people who like poetry, short stories, web development, whatever hobbies I have pages for. I was thinking of and probably will make an arts and crafts page, where I blog tutorials, link vlogs, etc.

88.) Have you ever been interested in XHTML?

Not really.

89.) Do you program in general? Have you ever written a program for use with or on your website, not counting simple JavaScript?

No, but I would really like to get into codding simple games.

90.) Speaking of programs that help you make websites, what do you think of static site generators (SSGs)? Have you ever used one?

I haven’t, I don’t really see the point, but I really enjoy HTML, so maybe for someone who doesn’t want to do the code or pay someone..? idk

91.) Do you keep a hitcounter? Why or why not?

No, maybe I should start...

92.) Do you frequent any forums? Why or why not?

Not anything other than reddit, but I don’t really know where to find forum other than reddit nowadays.

93.) Do you write your page content directly into the editor, or do you prepare it elsewhere, like a text document or a Word document?

Coding in Word..?

94.) Do you think you appear cool to others? A more accurate answer now: do other people ever say you're cool?

To other? Yes. To me? Ehh. I have been told I’m cool.

95.) Are you embarrassed of your old work? Have you ever deleted everything out of shame?

Yeahh.

96.) Would you close down your website if you couldn't update it, or would you leave an archive?

Archive for sure

97.) Do you reveal a lot about yourself on your website? Or are you more secretive?

I reveal a lot of what I just sit and ponder about, nothing too personal, though.

98.) Are you willing to reveal who your best online friend is, and/or if they have a website?

Probably my friends Wyatt & Landen. They don’t have websites but they should totally get into coding. They’re both smart enough to fly through the learning curve.

99.) And do you optimise the images on your website?

I put them on there however they save lol.
